Back to the Basics in PPC

It’s getting more difficult to know where to turn in your PPC ad campaigns, with some sources reporting that PPC revenues have actually increased significantly year-over-year from fourth quarter 2007 to 2008 and others more cautious about suggesting that things are fine in the PPC advertising world (a LOT more cautious). But one thing you can do is check out your campaigns, finetune them, fix anything that is leaking clicks or costs, and test, test, test. Marchex Streamlines, Cuts Staff – January 30, 2009

Local search and performance ad firm Marchex will cut 15 full-time positions, around 4 percent of its staff. The company has eliminated the positions in an effort to reduce redundancies and streamline its product teams. Click Fraud Rate Hits Highest Level Yet – January 28, 2009

Microsoft Ad Revenue Up 7% – January 22, 2009

Ads, in particular search ads, provided a bright spot in an otherwise bleak quarter, as the company reported lower than projected revenue.
