Google Execs to Get Up to $1.5 Million Bonus - February 3, 2007

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) — Google Inc. said on Friday its board of directors had agreed to pay executive officers a bonus of up to $1.5 million total for 2006, but it was not clear if the plan applied to the billionaires who started the Web search leader. Co-founders and Presidents Sergey Brin and Larry Page and Chief Executive Eric Schmidt received salaries of $1 each in 2005 and were not included in a separate 2006 plan for executive bonuses of up to $3 million each filed with federal regulators in October. The Affiliate PPC Search Controversy Continues – February 2, 2007

Merchants are growing increasingly concerned that affiliates engaging in direct-link PPC (define) search and even buying clicks to their own sites are inflating overall CPCs (define) within the Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft search marketplaces. Affiliates, on the other hand, love finding keywords that allow for arbitrage of the CPC against the commission paid by merchants or lead-gen partners. Unlike a few years ago, the intersection between affiliate PPC search arbitrage and the marketers’ direct PPC search activity is looking less like the Wild West and more like a set of ongoing experiments for which give and take will ultimately create a sustainable business model. Read the entire article here.

Google Announces Fourth Quarter and Fiscal Year 2006 Results – January 31, 2007

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – January 31, 2007 – Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) today announced financial results for the quarter and fiscal year ended December 31, 2006. "Our impressive performance in the fourth quarter demonstrates the continuing strength of our business model across Google properties and those of our partners," said Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google. "Our growing organization allows us to deliver ever increasing amounts of information and content to our users both through investments in search and ads as well as through strategic partnerships. A free keyword suggestion tool has been launched by Wordtracker, the search keyword specialist, aiming to aid web publishers optimise their websites for search engine rankings. Microsoft adCenter – Microsoft adCenter is the online sales center for advertising options on Microsoft properties. The PPC option is offered for the Live Search property and is referred to as P4P or pay-for-performance advertising. The US Live Search audience is identified as: "[on average] 45 years old, skews female, married, and 45 percent have children. They also earn high incomes (Avg. HHI $76.1K), and are well-educated professional – with an additional 4 percent being full-time students."
