Search Marketing Standard Summer 2007 Edition Is In The Mail

Google Makes Search More Personal – May 5, 2007

Google last week gave its Personalized Homepage a new name–iGoogle–as part of its effort to promote a new vision of search. Personalization, Google says, is what will make its core product better. That’s a significant admission for a company that’s put so much effort into automated, machine-driven search.

To do this, Google has turned to its users to improve search relevance and the overall experience. “We can’t go around designing products for the average person,” says Sep Kamvar, technical lead for iGoogle. “We have to be taking the person who is doing the searching into account. Microsoft Acquires European Mobile Ad Firm – May 4, 2007

Microsoft has snatched up European mobile ad firm ScreenTonic with the intention of integrating its capabilities into adCenter. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. “We want to deliver a platform that helps advertisers buy across all digital mediums,” said Joe Doran, GM of Microsoft’s digital advertising solutions. “As we build out the breadth of our platform, we are continuing to invest against that vision.” Read the entire article here. LookSmart Reports First Quarter 2007 Results – May 3, 2007
