Statistical analysis packages for websites are numerous and many good ones are even free of charge. However, if you have little or no experience and/or aptitude for figuring out what the numbers your free stats program associated with your web host package really mean, you may wish to invest in a commercial product that takes some of the work out of making sense of the data.

One of the most comprehensive packages designed for those who advertise online is OneStat.

There are a number of versions of the program, primarily set apart by number of page views (monthly fee is calculated depending upon your real traffic).

OneStat has long been a well-respected provider of a free stats tracking solution and regularly reports on items such as most popular browser and the like.

With head offices in the Netherlands, the free stats tracking solution is popular around the globe and enables the company to make what are probably the best guess at global trends. They are a member of the Web Analytics Association.

Most versions track all the usual stats, but two versions are specifically geared towards those using PPC and other advertising.

The eBusiness version runs under $600 US per year. With it, you can measure visitors at the browser level and extremely detailed marketing information. In addition to the usual set of detailed stats that are contained in almost any online stats package these days, conversion can be separated out by search engine, key phrase, referrer, country of origin, landing page, and campaign.

Click fraud is tracked and detected and advice on contacting search engines for possible refunds is available.

All reports can be presented for any variety of time and date ranges. More advanced click path reports are available, with time spent on site and/or page, entry and exit pages, and repeat versus first-time visitor breakdowns.

With this version, you can consolidate a number of different domains within one login.

The AdWorks version not only tracks many of the same stats, but also will track ROI details of your shopping cart, helping to pinpoint which campaigns are performing best.

Sales can be tracked by time period and sorted by product or product group. If desired, you can drill down to individual sales and investigate their origin and the click path taken by the visitor.

This version of the program runs under $500 US per year for up to 250,000 page views per month.

The array of different options is impressive and an online demo shows you how the program performs, using the OneStat site itself as the one being tracked, so you can easily judge if the level of detail and coverage is sufficient.

As well, there is a 4-week trial period available for each of the versions. The online FAQs are quite extensive and a private label option is offered for resale, and an affiliate program is also available.
