SpeedPPC is a desktop application that helps speed up the process of creating customized PPC ads and landing pages. Although SpeedPPC can be used by those setting up and running smaller ad campaigns with only a few keywords or products, the cost of the software (just under $500) will likely restrict its appeal to those working with large numbers of keyword phrases or products and/or those involved in affiliate marketing.
SpeedPPC assumes that you already have completed your keyword research and have lists of keywords and keyphrases ready. With careful planning and consideration of what the “seed” and “expansion” lists of keywords/phrases will be, one can generate thousands of individual customized ads and landing pages in a number of minutes. Originally developed for use with Google AdWords and MSN adCenter, SpeedPPC now is integrated to work with Yahoo! Search Marketing, as well as nine others: ABC Search, Affiliate Radar, Ask, Enhance, goClick, LookSmart, Miva, Search123, and ValidClick.
The time saved by not having to create and then upload each ad/landing page makes SpeedPPC worth looking into. Time savings can become very significant if you are setting up a number of ad groups that differ, for example, only in the placement of a geographic keyword. With SpeedPPC, there is no extra work required to do this (other than a couple of mouse clicks).
Tokens can be passed along from the keyword list through to the ad itself and the landing page. The keyword phrase is dynamically inserted into the ad and landing page – in the title of the page, headlines on the page, and the body text itself. Done correctly, this can greatly improve the relevancy of the landing page, increase quality score, and decrease cost per click charges. In addition, with integration into tracking software such as Google Analytics, one can see exactly which keywords, landing pages, tokens, etc., wound up performing the best.
SpeedPPC allows the insertion of a number of different tokens from affiliate datafeed sources, such as product name, description, URL of an image, product page affiliate URL, and others. Affiliates can also add keyword tokens into the tracking identification tag used to keep track of affiliate sales. In this way, an affiliate can track which keyword was responsible for which sale, and thereby help decide whether to continue to use specific keywords in future PPC ads.
Although one need not be a programmer to use SpeedPPC, some experience and knowledge of HTML will help you understand the “why” behind some processes. For example, if you want to set things up to generate landing pages for a large number of products that arrive to you via a datafeed from a PHP database, it’s simple to do so if you have some basic understanding of database structure and function. One limitation of SpeedPPC is that it only operates on the Windows .NET environment.
A trial period would be a nice touch, but at least the product comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. SpeedPPC suggests that purchasers arrange to invest some time to learn the intricacies of the software to gain full advantage of its capabilities. Tutorials and training assistance are provided. A year’s worth of access to software updates is included in the price, and additional 12-month upgrade periods can be purchased.
If the majority of your advertising is done on Google AdWords, before committing to the purchase of SpeedPPC, take some time to investigate the free AdWords Editor tool. The tool is a fairly new addition and is very powerful in simplifying and speeding up mass manipulation of keyphrases, ad groups, and ad text and the use of dynamic keyword insertion. Depending upon your situation, the free tool may be acceptable for your needs.
SpeedPPC will need to adjust quickly and with great foresight if they are to remain ahead of the curve in supplying a product superior to that packaged within the advertising companies’ own products. For now, however, the very intuitive interface, combined with the power of dynamic keyword insertion, makes SpeedPPC worth consideration for those with complex PPC advertising campaigns.
