SearchBoost is a new product from the company that developed Xmarks, a popular bookmark sync browser add-on since 2006. Using the data gathered from ratings and reviews submitted by searchers using Xmarks over the years, SearchBoost adds rating data to pay-per-click ads running on Google or Bing.
Because SearchBoost pulls data from upwards of 1 billion bookmarks and site ratings created by millions of searchers, the enhanced pay-per-click ads will be shown on a network that generates more than 500 million searches each month.
Having the SearchBoost rating on your ads has been shown to increase the clickthrough rate by an average of 15%. The enhanced ads will be shown to users of Xmarks searching on Google and Bing.
Advertisers cannot change any of the data displayed because of SearchBoost -- the point is that the most useful and popular sites will have been bookmarked and rated most often, and Xmarks users know that the ratings are independent. A high rating will add a degree of trust to a company's paid search ads.
If your website is not listed on Xmarks.com, you won't be eligible to receive a SearchBoost rating, since those are generated via the crowd-sourced data form Xmarks users. However, they have a "Verified Site" badge which can by added to paid listings to lend a degree of professionalism.
In addition, SearchBoost features a robust reporting and analytics program. Participants will receive daily Boost Reports, which show daily metrics on clickthrough rates and impressions for organic and paid search results. An analysis of search terms is also provided, showing the terms that deliver the greatest number of organize and paid clicks for you. Competitor analysis is also possible, with listings of top sites for specific search terms and reports on competitors who are closest to your site in impressions and clicks.
At this point in time, one cannot access analytics info for Bing. The company hopes to have it available by May 1.
SearchBoost has three levels of subscription. Level 1 is $29/month and covers up to 250 clicks and 25 search analytics reports. Level 2 is for up to 1,500 clicks and 150 reports for $129/month. The Pro level will handle up to 10,000 clicks and 1,000 reports at $499/month. Level 4 is the Enterprise level, with unlimited parameters (contact them for pricing).
